Using Kidspiration to Improve Writing with K-4 Students

Kidspiration is a great product designed to help k-4 students plan, pre-write, and write.  At my elementary school, we use Kidspiration frequently in my lab.  However,  it tends to be more project oriented, and doesn't take full advantage of the writing features.  Last year, we piloted a program using Kidspiration with  two specific special needs students and their aide to help the students with their writing.  The product was well received by both the students and the aid.   The students' writing improved dramatically in content, logic, and length.

Last week, I hosted a training session with all the teaching aides about Kidspiration, hoping to transfer this success to more students.  I decided to videotape one of the students who has been successfully using the program since the beginning of the year to write.

  1. Hi Terry,

It sounds like you thoroughly researched the effectiveness of Kidspiration for helping your students improve their writing skills. On our website at http://www.inspiration.com/Success-Stories/Kidspiration, we have several case studies that may further support your research.

If possible, I'd love to see the video you took of your student using Kidspiration. Please email me at connect(at)inspiration.com.

I'd also enjoy connecting with you on blog, Facebook or Twitter. You may find the links below. Thanks for sharing and I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
